Over the past couple weeks the ocean has come alive with different options. On the long run, the Mahi bite is on fire, fishing temperature breaks and weed lines. Live bait or trolled ballyhoo are the baits of choice. Outside 50 miles, the Bottom fishing for Mutton’s and Mangroves is picking up along with Amberjack, Vermilion snapper, and an occasional Wahoo. Inside 30 miles, the bottom fishing has been tough but the troll has been yielding king mackerel, an occasional black fin tuna, and an occasional Sailfish. Live bait is recommended including Spanish Sardines, Cigar minnows, and Pogies, In that order! When we can’t get offshore, inshore fishing provides some options also with Sheepshead, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, Black Drum, etc…
