On Thursday, I had two people for 6 hours. As I left the Jetties, I really didn’t know where I was gonna go, but I did know I was gonna try to catch pogies because jigging bait was a little difficult on Wednesdah. After I caught pogies, we headed offshore and started bottom fishing. While I’m bottom fishing, I like to keep a live bait rod off the back of the boat for anything that might bite it. I call it my flat line rod. As we are bottom fishing, the flat line rod goes off. After a long battle, we land our first Blackfin Tuna “head” of the spring. The sharks won that battle. After a while later, we hook another and land it in whole condition. It was about 20lbs. We didn’t catch any more blackfin, but we did land a few barracuda and several nice king mackerel. We then hopped a little further offshore and limited out on vermilion snapper. Also, along the way, we caught 2 cobia, with the biggest being 37lbs. Both of them were caught by Lance on a 2/0 chicken rig with cut bait . The ocean started out a little bumpy but ended up being very nice throughout the day and for the ride back in.
