Friday, July 03, 2015 - Jodie Johnson and Crew Back

Report: Ok about today. It was very challenging. Everything was against us from the beginning. The thermocline has apparently rolled over bringing the colder water temps to the top and to the beach. The pogies obviously don't like it because they have vanished. We ran all the way to the pier off of Amelia Island looking for pogies and never saw the first one. We activated Plan B and headed offshore to jig up some live bait. By the time we caught our bait we didn't have much time to hunt fish. We trolled for a while looking for a kingfish but it was getting late. We bottom fished a couple ledges and the red snapper were on fire as usual. We released several snapper and some small bass. Left there and stopped off behind a shrimp boat to get some meat. We had 1 opportunity and put a decent black nose shark in the boat. It sounded like a lot of struggles today from how the radio sounded. Not sure about what's going on but tomorrow is another day. Activate Plan C!
