I've never seen so many pogies in my life. Usually you struggle to find bait, but lately if you leave the inlet, you can't help but run accross it. We loaded up on huge pogies and headed out to catch some amberjack we left yesterday. They were completely gone! We saw about 5 at one place we fished yesterday but they wouldn't come to the boat or eat anything we had and then they just disappeared. We bottom fished all day and caught a bunch of monster black sea bass up to 16 inches. Ralph got a 15lb grouper, and we got rocked a couple of times. Debbie caught her first kingfish, and we lost a couple more kingfish to them tail whipping the line and snapping it. Looks like the "troll" is about to kick off! We also got a couple triggers and beeliners. We could have caught some more but the census was "go big, or go home", so we bottom fished with the live bait all day. The wind and the current were against each other today so my arms got a nice workout pulling the anchor rope in 5000 times. I need the exercise anyway so it's cool :) Until next time! keep those rods bent.
I have to get back to the east coast miss the ocean. need to go fishing for some cobia and kings
